Ivy
The title of this Italian “sentimental series” is also the name of the protagonist, a young woman called IVY. At birth, IVY is abandoned by her mother, who has lost her reason. For a series of other circumstances, her father is not aware of her birth. The orphaned child is left in care of a convent. The only link to her past is the locket in the form of an ivy leaf, hence the name given to her by the nuns. Thanks to the love of the Mother Superior, Ivy finishes her studies and at the age of 20 leaves the convent to face the world. She starts work in a boutique with CINZIA who is to become Ivy´s first real friend. The two girls also share an apartment, facing life’s ups and down together. Soon they begin to design and make their own fashion line, which is bought by the boutique where they work. This is the beginning of a lucrative business, which will eventually allow them to buy the boutique. Ivy meets and falls in love with ANDREA. What Ivy does not know is that Andrea, the son from the first marriage of LEONA, an ambitious and overbearing woman, lives in the same house as VALERIO, Ivy’s father. Valerio has found out that he has a daughter and is desperately trying to locate her, not knowing of course that she is Andrea’s girlfriend. Leona does everything in her power to break up Ivy and Andrea and when Ivy discovers she is pregnant, they both decide to marry in secret. Andrea decides no to tell his mother, who has been involved in a serious accident as he feels that news of this kind would be too much of a shock for her. Andrea leaves for Canada but the aeroplane crashes shortly before arriving in a remote mountainous area and harsh conditions prevent the First Aid team from rescuing anybody. Ivy, shocked and deeply saddened by this news begin to work around the clock, while also taking care of her infant son. She also decides to open another boutique with Cinzia in Milan. But Andrea is not dead – he has, however completely lost his memory and fallen in love with another woman BETSY. Valerio finally discovers that Ivy is his long lost daughter.
